Americans react to Hunter Biden's conviction in federal gun trial

Americans across the country reacted to Hunter Biden's conviction in his federal gun case Tuesday, offering opinions on whether justice was served, if the verdict would affect their votes and the fallout of a possible pardon from his father. Rhonda, a self-described conservative voter from Washington state, said the verdict hadn't changed her decision to vote against President Biden. "I'm happy," she said, speaking with Fox News Digital in Washington, D.C. "I think justice is definitely served." Rhonda added that she wouldn't want to be put in the position of deciding whether to pardon her own son, which President Biden has said he would not do.  HUNTER BIDEN FOUND GUILTY ON ALL COUNTS IN GUN TRIAL "I think as a father, that would be a very hard decision, more than as a president," she said. "If it were my child, I would want to do everything I could to help them … It would be a tough spot, and I would not want to make that decision.&q

Food warehouse roof collapses in extra-alarm fire on Chicago's South Side

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Firefighters spent nearly three hours battling an extra-alarm fire that started Thursday morning at a warehouse in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. The fire started at a warehouse at the Evans Food Group processing plant near 41st and Halsted around 8:30 a.m. Chicago Fire Department officials said the fire was later raised to a 3-11 alarm, bringing in extra crews to fight the flames. Heavy flames and thick black smoke could be seen coming from the roof of the warehouse. District Chief Jim McDonough said the fire spread from the original warehouse where it started to at least two connected buildings. The roofs of all three buildings collapsed during the fire. Crews used three tower ladder trucks and five large hand lines to contain the fire from the outside before it was safe to go inside to extinguish the remaining flames. A worker at the plant said it is essentially a large kitchen that packs and ships food all over the country. McDonough said the warehouse stores

Trump fraud trial: Defense scheduled to start presenting its case Monday

Former President Donald Trump is on trial in New York in a $250 million civil lawsuit that could alter the personal fortune and real estate empire that helped propel Trump to the White House. Trump, his sons Eric Trump and and Donald Trump Jr., and Trump Organization executives are accused by New York Attorney General Letitia James of engaging in a decade-long scheme in which they used "numerous acts of fraud and misrepresentation" to inflate Trump's net worth in order get more favorable loan terms. The trial comes after the judge in the case ruled in a partial summary judgment that Trump had submitted "fraudulent valuations" for his assets, leaving the trial to determine additional actions and what penalty, if any, the defendants should receive. The former president has denied all wrongdoing and his attorneys have argued that Trump's alleged inflated valuations were a product of his business skill.
